Mission Statement
The mission of Temple Beth El is to maintain synagogue and educational, religious and social activities to further the goals of the synagogue and Judaism and to provide cultural and moral leadership for the Jewish population of the greater Newark, Delaware and surrounding community, including neighboring areas in Pennsylvania, Maryland and New Jersey.
Temple Beth El was founded in 1954 by a small group of Jewish families. The Congregation moved into its present building in September of 1984. At present we have 180 families with about 80 children in our religious school. We are affiliated with the Jewish Reconstructionist Movement which emphasizes community and evolving Judaism.
