Rabbi Jacob M. Lieberman
Peter H. Grumbacher - Interim Rabbi
Following his ordination from the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in 1972, Rabbi Grumbacher served only one congregation, Beth Emeth in Wilmington, Delaware. During those years he received certification in Pastoral Counseling and a Master of Social Work degree.
He retired in 2009 to pursue other interests. As the son of a Holocaust survivor, he has traveled the country presenting his father’s story of his experiences in the Dachau concentration camp and then as a soldier in the United States Army.
Before becoming our Interim Rabbi he served three Virginia congregations in the same capacity. He views his rabbinate as an opportunity to counsel and teach. The rabbi was on the staff of Jewish Family Services and lectures in various venues.
He has been married to Suzy for fifty-four years. They have three adult children and six adorable grandchildren ages 20 down to age 3. He looks forward to engaging with congregants, students, teachers and staff during this year.
